The symphony that's beginning to end

In the Netherlands there have been drastic budget cuts to the cultural development, roughly 200 million. This constitutes for the sector a near-death experience. In a short flash (16 hours is short in comparison to 3000 years of notated music) the entire development of music will "flash before our eyes", in the hope to revive the love for the arts in the Netherlands, United States and the rest of the world, and provide new ground for inspiration.
The symphony is made up of ten seconds from 10,000 pieces of music, from 1400 BC up until the students of conservatories today. These fragments will be layered into a polyphonic epoch timeline for 9 musicians (the longest symphony to date in performance and recording, with the smallest ensemble respectively). 9 CD's, on average 280 years development per disc, will be produced and released in a limited edition of 2,000 copies between June 2012 and November 2012. On December 21 2012, when the Maya calendar ends, a performance will be given in full (16 hours) at a later to be determined location.
