Creative Magnet for Art Enthusiasts

From July 26 to September 11, 2010, the organization Sommerakademie Traunkirchen will give over 130 art enthusiasts and art students the opportunity to let their creativity run free and to take part in a class led by EVA & ADELE, VALIE EXPORT, Xenia Hausner, Jürgen Messensee, Arnold Reinthaler, Konrad Winter and Xiaolan Huangpu.

In its third year of activity, the Summer Academy Traunkirchen remains true to its chosen focus on various artistic techniques, but is also expanding its catalogue of offerings. Painting and graphics—also in combination with photography—are the artistic focus of most courses, but the sensitive search for materials and body forms in the area around Traunkirchen will also be a course theme. Stone sculptures will be treated from a completely new perspective. Engagement with digital forms of photography and video will receive particular attention, including as a special bridge to the scientific summer academies that also take place in Traunkirchen.

The summer academy for fine arts continues Traunkirchen's century-long tradition as an oft-frequented location for scientists and artists during the summer months in the present. The academy takes advantage of the inspiring atmosphere of an old cultural haven, a popular summer freshness, and this meeting place for creative minds to produce a special atmosphere in which a large number of people can take part. Prominent artistic personalities are again using their knowledge and experience to lead artistic master classes around the old monastery in Traunkirchen: you and your specific, creative wish can become part of this special artistic atmosphere in Traunkirchen.

Participant fees

The participant fees include a one-time registration fee of 190 Euros as well as tuition, which varies according to the length of the course:
Two-week course: 440 Euros (excl. registration fee)
Three-week course: 640 Euros (excl. registration fee)
Two-week workshop: 280 Euros (incl. registration fee)

Scholarships

The dean of the summer academy assigns 2 scholarships per class in the amount of the entire participation fee. Journey and accommodation must be paid by students themselves. Applicants must be at least 17 and not older than 28 years old. An attendance of universities of arts, art colleges, art academies and art schools or of federal higher institutes of applied arts is a further condition.

Application Deadline is July 15, 2010 with rolling admissions.
