Berlin continues to evolve. It has now acquired the world’s most spectacular new railway station which is to be the catalyst for the reconstruction of a whole urban quarter. We shall be finding out about these plans, and also viewing the new embassies quarter, Rob Krier and Christoph Kohl’s new suburb of Kirchsteigfeld at Potsdam, the renewal of 1960s East Berlin high-rise housing estates at Hellersdorf, and the district of Kreuzberg, regenerated according to Berlin’s Neighbourhood Management principles.
The tour price of £550 includes high-speed rail travel from London, three nights’ accommodation in a tourist class hotel, and a city centre riverboat cruise. This tour will be of interest to those involved in neighbourhood and housing estate renewal and in sustainable urban extensions.
Further information is available from Alan Stones, Fullerthorne, Church Street, Kelvedon, Essex C05 9AH, phone 01376 571351 or e-mail alanstones@fullerthorne.fsnet.co.uk.
